​Taryn has proven to have the technical skills a coach needs – the background, experience and knowledge necessary to design an effective training plan, improve form and prepare athletes like me to reach their goals. She consistently educates me, responds to my questions and shares articles, videos and feedback that contribute to my progress. She adapts each week’s workouts to balance my personal schedule, athletic strengths, weaknesses and overall goals. She is extremely knowledgeable in many areas from race planning to swim technique to nutrition.

However, what differentiates excellent coaches from the rest are softer skills inherent in those who can lead, inspire and influence. Coaches like Taryn have these personality attributes. She is well known in our local triathlon and running community for her unwavering positivity, dedication to the sport and willingness to help others.

​I started training with Krista around a year and a half ago, and it is amazing to look back and see the difference in the athlete I was then to who I am now. Krista continues to teach me how to train better, smarter, and how to race. Her daily feedback is in such stark contrast to what I had before and has made such a difference as she pays attention to what I need. Whether it is to push me, reign me in, get on me about eating and proper nutrition, or exercises to try to keep my body health and injury free. Then there is the mental aspect. Krista let me know early on what she thought I was capable of and that she believed I had so much more in me than I realized. She gave me the confidence to believe in myself. The outcome of that training and belief was me taking 1st place in my AG in Boulder IM and winning a slot and racing in Kona. Racing Kona was always a dream but one I never believed was truly attainable. She helped me make that dream a reality!! ​Training for Ironman can happen one of two ways, and I have experienced both. Either self-guided with good intent to tackle 140.6 miles, or smartly designed for your exact needs to develop as an athlete who performs for 140.6 miles. The latter of the two is exactly what I got thanks to Krista LaPan, and TeamBSC. My hands down favorite perk of being coached by Krista was the time saved from having my workouts planned for me. Additionally, the workouts were not cookie cutter. They were specific to my goals, my schedule, my course and biometrics. I found myself almost craving the instant feedback from Coach K once I uploaded my workout to Training Peaks. Krista’s knowledge and personal drive for triathlon will take you to a new level … no mater what level you are at today!

I started in this sport roughly 10 years ago and was contemplating doing another IM after a year of medical setbacks.  I had worked with Michelle previously and immediately thought of engaging Krista as my coach since she was local and continued to progress in her own personal triathlon journey.   Given my situation, both medically and work-related, she assessed my fitness, understood my limitations and set some targets for me going forward.  Krista developed a series of workouts aimed at improving fitness while getting me prepared for my “A” race.   She explained the purpose of the different workout and described how my performance should improve, helping me to understand how my body would react to the various sessions.  Krista is very attentive, interactive and fully understands ALL of the components that are involved in this sport.  From training to nutrition, recovery to the daily stresses of life, I highly recommend Coach K.

My experience with Krista has surpassed any and all of my expectations!!  As an average runner, I really wanted to see if I had any potential and the ability to qualify for the Boston Marathon!  In the first 2.5 months working with Krista, I improved my marathon time by 11 minutes!  She has taught me the mental, emotional, and physical “science” behind running.  At first I was nervous to let go of my old ways but by trusting her knowledgable and strategic workouts, I only continue to get faster!  Not only will Krista push you to be your very best, she genuinely cares about your personal success.  She was there to run with me the last two miles of the first time I qualified for Boston and I’m so thankful to say I will be running in Boston this year!  She is truly the best coach I have ever had and I look forward to working with her for many more years!!
